Directions from the South A1(M) to Junction 61. Take 2nd exit on roundabout onto A177. Continue thru BOWBURN and SHINCLIFFE to the outskirts of Durham City. Take 1st exit at roundabout and straight on at traffic lights (NEW INN on right). Take 1st exit at next roundabout and continue to A167 traffic lights. Straight on and downhill to junction with A690. Turn left. Continue on A690 to LANGLEY MOOR and turn right immediately before the LORD BOYNE Hotel, 50 metres after passing under railway bridge. Continue for exactly 1.5 miles to the hamlet of ALUM WATERS, the guesthouse is the second farmhouse on the LEFT 100 metres past the houses on the right of road. Indicate that you are turning LEFT when you reach the last terraced house on the right. If you overshoot the entrance continue for another 100 metres and turn around just after the 30mph speed restriction sign, and come back.
